Of the hiking shoes I was considering in this post, I ended up choosing the Oboz Women's Teton Suede Mountain Sport Shoe. After looking at the selection at a few local sporting goods stores (Dick's, Sports Authority, Fleet Farm), I decided to take a chance online. I was considering these at $50, but by the time I got around to making the purchase, they had dropped another $10....a seriously good deal.
Can't wait to test these babies out in Colorado and Utah. Only 8 days until Steve and I hit the road!

I love these! I think I want a pair!
Break them in by going for short walks on level ground before you do any long or hilly climbs in them.
I love the look. And good call going for below-the-ankle boots--I think those are a lot more comfortable.
I LOVE them. Might have to have these.
