I was sooooo smitten with this dress when I spotted it at Forever 21 a few years ago. But if this isn't the first time I've worn it, it's the second...and I can't remember the first. My friend Keely has gotten more wear out of it than I have. I considered letting her have it, and likely will give it to her one day, but I just haven't been able to part with it yet. Here's the problem: this is not a dress for a busty girl, married, in her late 20's.
Just the other week, the most adorable older lady in my church asked me when I was expecting. "I'm not pregnant." I replied. She said, "Oh! Well, it was quite some time ago that someone told me that you and Steve were expecting. I kept waiting for you to get bigger, but you never did."
Right. Because I'm not pregnant. I wasn't offended or anything, merely amused.
So it's no easy task for me to don a empire waist such as this dress is. I'm bound to get questioning looks and probing questions. Which is fair...the cut is very maternity-like.
And yes. I have tried belting it. Not a fan.
And just so the world is aware: I'm not pregnant. Nor am I trying to be. Thanks anyway.

People used to ask me if I was pregnant all the time because I really adore empire waist things. They aren't super flattering on me, but I REALLY love to wear the style. This looks adorable on you, and you don't look pregnant by any means, just younger. Isn't that a good thing? You're amazing... and I love reading!

Oh this is really cute! Love how you mixed it up.
I think you look adorable and decidedly NOT pregnant. I love that you layered a red tee underneath.
When, WHEN, will people learn to NEVER ask a woman when she's due if said woman has not personally informed them that they are pregnant?!
Geez, people!
The dress is adorable! I have the same problem with dresses like that... I look preggars. Not a fan of belting them either.
