30 for 30: Day 1

Whoa!  Not only is this the kick-off of the 30 for 30 challenge, but I'm also featuring this new post idea I'm calling How We Wore.  Basically, whenever the opportunity presents itself, I'll not only post how I styled an item, but will display how others (in real life and web-life) styled it too!

Ok, so if you don't own this skirt, please raise your hand (don't be shy, no one will see).  Now lower your hand to the corner of your mouth while extending your index finger and rotating your eyeballs upward.  Stop in the classic, thinking pose.   Now consider why you don't own this skirt.  Seriously, it is/was $5 at Target.

Truthfully, I wasn't sold on this skirt either until Kyla rocked it in a gazillion different ways.  And then there's Rebecca, Kendi, Tania...and numerous other bloggers I'm sure to be forgetting (link it up in the comments!).

It sat in my closet for a couple weeks before I got around to wearing it and included it my 30 for 30 solely based on how other bloggers have worn it.  Now that's trust.

Here's how I wore it:

How friend Tara wore it:

How friend Elaina wore it:

Based on the evidence presented here, we may conclude that this skirt can be styled in hundreds, nay thousands of ways and it is, in fact, worth the $5 we paid for it.

Ha! I thrifted this same skirt last week at the Salvation Army in Elk River. I wore it twice last week, too. Love it! I wish you luck with the challenge and can't wait to see all your cute looks.

I like that you paired the neutrals with yellow accessories.

I like how you wore the lace skirt! Seriously, Targets everywhere must have been bombarded with bloggers when this skirt hit the clearance rack. I picked up mine in olive green for only $4.25 and I've worn it twice so far. (And it's in my travel bag right now while I'm away for a few days!)

Here's the latest lace skirt outing:

Seriously, talk about wardrobe workhorse! I have a similar post in the works after writing about how versatile this skirt is and how many bloggers have it.

I love how you styled the skirt. The mustard accessories are by far my favorite part! Looking forward to see what else you've got planned.

So, I don't have this skirt, but I love the way you styled it! Good luck with the 30 for 30! I'm sure you'll do great. :)

I'm so glad that so many bloggers are using that skirt in the 30x30. I totally bought that skirt when it was $8 and had no idea how to style it, but then looked closely and realized that a ton of the bloggers that I already followed were wearing it. Yay for more ideas! :)

ps. You guys are crazy. No shopping for black friday?!?! :) I don't think I'd ever be able to do it.

Awww man! I almost bought that skirt but then deemed it to short for work, stupid work attire! Love the pop of yellow to cheer up your day one outfit!

Haha, I have a very similar skirt, but in black. Also dirt cheap, also super versatile. Only now I'm wishing I had it in three more colors...
Day one is looking great, only 29 to go...

So cute - love the shoes too. But now that I've started 30 for 30, too late to go buy the skirt ;)

I have that exact skirt in my 30 items to remix as well! I love the classic look you came up with!

The only reason I don't have that skirt is that we don't have Target in Canada! I love it!

And I like the way you've styled it - yellow + grey is one of my favourite colour combinations. I think I'm going to wear my yellow shoes tomorrow...

That's such a great skirt - I love it in white with the grey turtleneck and the yellow shoes. Such a fantastic look!
