30 for 30: Day 10

What I like about snow:
  • It's beautiful.  At first.
  • It's insulating.  Somehow, 20 degrees feels even colder without snow on the ground.  I'm sure there's a scientific explanation for it.
  • It's bright.  So I can find the dog poop easier.
  • It smells good.  Did you know that snow smells?  It does.  It smells like childhood memories and holiday shopping.
  • It's symbolic.  "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow..." Isaiah 1:18 NIV
  • It's fun.  I like to ski, tube, sled...things I always intend to do, but rarely get around to doing.

It's a lot of work to come up with things I like about it, but thinking about all the things I don't like just gets me down.  If you live in snow, what do YOU like about it?

Being a Southern Californian, I have never lived in snow...just experience it when I go to the mountains to ski. I am however, moving to a very cold climate so it should be interesting. Out of curiousity, is the outfit you are wearing keep you warm out in the snow? Or do you have add other layers?

Great outfit and you look prepared for more snow ahead. Sadly there's no snow here, only the occasional hail...but I love snow! =)

I like snow. Like you said, it's beautiful, it's also exciting, like a thunderstorm. It has the potential to be dangerous, but rarely is.

Love the scripture!

I love snow but preferably travelling to experience it. We don't get much here in western Washington so when we do nobody's very well prepared and drivers LOSE THEIR MINDS.

I like the feeling that everything is different. It's like the normal rules are suspended when snow is piling up. You're supposed to stay home and bake cookies and the calories don't count.

American in Switzerland: No. This doesn't really keep me warm, but I went without a coat anyway because I would only be outside going from the car to indoors. It's not too cold at 30ish degrees. Haha.

Suberb Experiment: Minnesota drivers lose their minds too. It's the same thing year after year, yet it seems everyone has to re-learn how to drive with even the slightest snowfall.

That snow was nuts, tho. Brought down entire trees up in North Mpls!

This looks like the perfect weekend knockabout ensemble.

We hardly ever get tons of snow where I live, nowhere near like in your pictures! I love it while it lasts but I cannot imagine living and driving in it all winter long.

Wowsers. You have a lot of snow! It's gorgeous and sunny in northern Michigan today. I wonder if that means a storm is coming our way? Better dig out my boots.
Having lived in a very snowy climate my entire life, I have a very long list of things about it that I like and a very long list of things about it that I hate. But, staying with the positive side of things: I like the way the individual snowflakes sparkle like crystals whenever there's a (rare) sunny winter day. It looks like a blanket of shimmering diamonds.

My family moved from New Jersey (to Florida!) when I was 8, so I don't have a lot of memories of snow but all the ones I do have are fun and happy! I never had to shovel it! :)

You look ADORABLE in this outfit, I love the black and brown together!

I also live in an area that gets plenty of snow. Hello, upper midwest! I wish I could appreciate it, but I really don't.

I love your stripes and the mixed neutrals here!

Snow is much prettier than dead grass, so I can appreciate it for that. I like the stripes and the scarf.

This look is marvelous! Love that you added the brown accessories instead of keeping it all black & white!

I really love this look and would love to recreate it here in snowy New England! Also love the black, gray, brown mix. Is the Turtleneck a recent Target find? I'm lusting!

I can't believe you guys have so much snow! Aaah! I'm so not ready for that yet! But you make it look so darn cute.
And Iggy does the same thing in the snow - too cute!

I love the snow, too. I grew up in the South, where snow was like magic- rare and hard to believe in. Now that I live in Chicago I still have that giddy little girl feeling about it.

Love this version of the snow suit. You're so chic and adorable in a charming, Anna Paquin sort of way (though surely less annoying!) ;) Love the striped w the boots.
