30 for 30: Day 4

I did not inherit my mom's sewing skills.  Every time I work up the gumption to sit down at a sewing machine, something goes wrong.  The thread breaks or tangles, the fabric snags, the needle gets stuck....and I'm easily frustrated.  So I explore other crafty avenues that do not require a sewing machine.  Felt, for example, is a fabric I can work with.  It's cheap, stiff, cuts easily, and doesn't fray. This is one of my first attempts at a felt flower.  Nothing spectacular, but hey, it's not like I'm selling it on Etsy.

There comes a time in the course of every haircut, that things get a little extra challenging. At which point I have a few options:  1) re-learn how to do my hair, 2) get a haircut, or 3) give up.  This is me in the give up phase, slowly coming around to re-learning, until I can make arrangements for a haircut.

I really like this outfit. The green tights are a nice touch. I think you did great with the felt flower. It is probably better than I could do.

LOL! I feel the same way about sewing. My mom is a genius and I can barely fix a hem. Glue and paint... I can work with those things. Too bad that tends to be a little limiting. - Katy

I have to agree, the flower is fantastic! I think I have to go figure out how to make one now!

I also love this outfit. I'm finding more inspiration for my closet in everyone else's remixes.

Love the flower you made :)

My hair has just turned on me a couple of days ago. Before it was perfectly fine and suddenly it looked like I should have had a hair cut three weeks ago. Ugh.

I can't believe you made that headband, it's so neat! I like how it matches your tights. I haven't been able to find green tights-- it's the one color I'm missing, and yours are so perfect. Cute cardigan, too. :D
