Danger Pug!

Our Thanksgiving certainly was eventful.  Dinner was everything you hope for in a Thanksgiving meal...deeelish and Southern to boot.  Our Turkey was seasoned and fried to perfection.  We had so much fun visiting.  There may be pictures if I ever catch up on life...

But as I mentioned here, Miles swallowed a whole turkey leg bone.  I didn't actually see it go down, but Steve did and was extremely concerned.  We took him to the emergency vet, got an x-ray and concluded that surgery was necessary to remove the bone.  My poor baby has a 4" incision on his belly and is very sore.  We're being ever-so careful with him, but he insists on continuing in puppy-like behavior...go figure.  Despite his activity, he seems to be healing well.

The veterinary staff couldn't believe the size of the bone when they saw the x-ray.  But...'Danger' is Miles' middle name...

Poor Miles. Maddie ate a chicken leg bone once, but it was small enough that she was fine.

Oh my word - that's so scary! Hope he heals quickly!

He's good. You'd never know by his actions that he's in any pain...but we are keeping him medicated, which makes him loopy, not sleepy as we'd hoped.

We have a vet appointment this afternoon to get him checked out by our regular dr.

Oh poor thing! I think the holidays are dangerous for pets. My friends dog was sick this weekend and the vet found he had eaten the gauze bag from the turkey. Yike. Hope Miles gets feeling better.

I am so glad he is ok!!!
My little Kallie ate a huge turkey bone this weekend too. (My 6 year old nephew left it unattended in his bedroom) Luckily she completely chewed it into little pieces before swallow (though this can sometimes be worse), and seems to have survived. What a scare though!!
