Product Review: GlassesUSA

GlassesUSA.com recently contacted me about reviewing a pair of their eyeglasses. Fun, right? Oh, I know what you’re thinking. “Um, Jill, you don’t wear glasses.” I know, I know. But perhaps I should. I just figure that if I pass the eye exam at the DMV every few years, I probably don’t need glasses.

But I do love the look of a great pair of specs. I had a fake pair of wire-rims about 10 years ago that I wore a few times. They made me feel wise and scholarly. I would like to fool people into thinking that I actually need glasses, but I’m a terrible liar. I especially can’t help but be a tad envious when I see someone pull off a chic pair of retro eyeglasses…those are the best. Might people who wear prescription glasses look down on those of us who wear them simply for fashion? I do wonder…

Even so, I couldn’t resist the offer from Glasses USA. I asked if I could review a pair of “fashion eyeglasses frames”, and they kindly agreed to send me a pair of 00 prescription glasses. They even let me choose from over 100 styles and colors. Their virtual mirror allows you to upload a picture of yourself or select one of their photos to try on eyeglasses. It was like being at an eyeglasses store from the comfort of my own couch. I (virtually) tried on dozens of different styles…full frame, classic, even rimless eyeglasses. It was very fun.

After much deliberation, I finally settled on Joey Blue. They arrived while I was out of town, so it was like coming home to a little present in my mailbox. These were cheap eyeglasses…as in, inexpensive, so I was quite pleased at their quality. Hubby said I was going for a Sexy Secretary look with my new, faux spectacles, though I was hoping for a little more Geek Chic.  Ah well...

In the process, I did a little browsing around for discount designer eyeglasses. You know me, if I’m shopping for glasses, I’m shopping for discount glasses. Everything from Calvin Klein to Dior to Ralph Lauren in the chicest styles and at really decent prices!

Steve got lazik surgery a few years ago, but I really liked how he looked in his wide-rim frames. It would’ve been fun for me to hunt down some great men's eyeglasses for him.

Now it’s your turn. Whether or not you really wear glasses, feel free to play around in the virtual mirror, browse the endless selection of discount eyeglass frames, and if you find the pair that is too YOU to pass up, use discount code SpoilsofWear for 15% off your order!

SO cute! Geek Chic OR Sexy Secretary both sound good to me! ;)

I really loved wearing funky glasses~ the only drawback from Lasik surgery for me, as well...maybe this can be an option.

I love your librarian look.

I think glasses are uncomfortable and wear contacts most of the time, so I can't imagine wearing glasses for fashion.

I love the whole ensemble. The glasses complete the look well!

I have and will forever wear glasses so it's nice to know about another place to pick them up...

This outfit is fabulous and the glasses make it that much better. Loving the nerd chic vibe. But I could see sexy secretary, too. :)

very cute! THe pictures you took are awesome, too. :) that overall outfit is precious on you!

I used to wear glasses and/or contacts for years. (but my glasses were always coke bottles) and I don't miss NEEDING them to see, but I have considered buying some frames to just wear for fun and fashion! You picked a cute pair!

Kind of in love with those tights, that scarf, and your blog's name. Not necessarily in that order.

Those glasses are perfect and I love how you did the photo shoot and styling of this outfit to match!
I had a few pairs of fake glasses myself as a teenager. Something about glasses just makes me feel smarter. Maybe one day I will actually need them.
