Oh the time Steve & I have had the last few days. Thursday morning Miles seemed a little low, but overall ok. By the evening, he was obviously not feeling himself. Friday morning we were rushing to the vet with a very sick puppy. After a not-too-serious diagnosis and antibiotic, we anticipated him feeling better by the time we got home from work. But he appeared worse and we were actually fearing for his life. Saturday was equally rough. He was clearly in a lot of pain and discomfort. All he wanted to do was sleep. Sunday showed minor improvement. Monday it seemed we were back to near-death. Took him back to the vet yesterday afternoon and gave him an additional antibiotic, pain/fever reducer, and diuretic to rid his liver of toxins. We're seeing some improvement in alertness and mobility today, but now there are side effects from the medication. It's been a roller coaster. I completely freaked myself out yesterday by thinking it was encephalitis, which is fatal. That possibility hasn't been completely eliminated, but isn't as likely as I first thought. The vet is optimistic about his recovery and thinks it is a parasitic and/or bacterial issue that we just have to beat. We're praying he's right.
I would give anything for Miles to be well, but while he's sick, I'm enjoying the sweetness and snuggling and lazy family time. Steve has been amazing and the only reason I haven't completely gone off the deep end. Our friends and family have been so helpful and prayerful. I'm a little distracted from the blogosphere right now, with this situation being only one of the major things occupying my thoughts/time. Even so, I will be as present as possible here - it serves as a worthy distraction.

Jill, I am so so SO sorry to hear about Miles. Having a sick pet, especially when you don't know the severity of it or how long it will last, when you have more questions than answers, is such an incredibly difficult thing to go through. Hang in there. Give him lots of love and spoil him (more than usual). I'll be thinking of your little family and hoping for the best... and soon.
Good wishes for Myles. And for you and your husband.
you are all in our prayers today! i hope the little one gets better soon!
Awww man I hope and pray Miles is better and soon. All the best, Anne
He is so freakin Cute!!
Poor Miles. i hope he feels better soon.
Oh the poor baby! Hoping he has a speedy recovery.
I am so sorry to hear Miles is ill. One of my pugs, Iggy, has been having issues lately too with a possible FCE. The vet's office is our new hang-out.
We'll make sure to say our puggy prayers and hope that it is just an infection and not PDE. I hope he feels much better soon!
Praying for Miles! Hope he feels better soon!
Poor baby! I know how you feel - I have two cats that I love like children, and watching them be ill is awful. I actually teared up when I had to drop the little one off to be neutered, and that was a completely normal procedure. I'm praying that Miles gets well soon!
Aww poor Miles! I hate when Ace is sick so I totally know how you feel. I hope he feels better soon!
Awe I hope your pup gets better soon. I know what it's like all too well.

When my kitty was feeling ill a few years ago it was such a difficult time. It's so easy to torture yourself with the what if's. I hope he feels better soon!
Oooh poor little Miles. Speedy Recovery Thoughts are with you. Hang in there!
So sorry he's still not feeling himself...N told me about you holding him the whole time you were here. Aw. Praying and try not to worry too much. Enjoy those cuddles.

This totally sucks! When your baby is sick and there's nothing you can do, that helplessness is just the WORST. I'm thinking of you guys and hoping he feels better very, very soon. xo

Oh Jill. If I could have saved my kitten, I would have done anything. I know how awful it is to watch your pet in pain and pray that they make it out okay! I'm thinking about you and hoping everything is getting lots better now!
