Penny's vs. Kohl's?

I went through my dresses on Sunday, came across this one, and got a little mad at myself for having only worn it once (maybe twice?) in several years.  It's so much fun to wear.  Steve calls me 'cupcake'.  I feel like a cupcake.  The weight and volume of the skirt makes it feel like a quality, boutique piece even though I bought it off the clearance rack at JCPenny.

It's only within the last few years that I have become a regular Penny's shopper.  Even more so than Kohl's.  Which is weird, because I grew up shopping at Kohl's.  I think Penny's has a better selection of Misses and Petites.  Better styles and fit (for me).  And clearances that are equal to, if not better, than Kohl's.  Do you shop at either store?  Which do you prefer?

For being one who follows a corporate dress code (as lax as it is) almost everyday, I've had little use for the classic white oxford.  Not my thing.  But I keep one on hand for times such as this.  I don't want to cover the dress with a cardigan.  A t-shirt is too casual.  Ok, fine.  White oxford, you suck, but you win.

Shirt:  Target
Dress:  JCPenny
Tights:  HUE, Macy's
Shoes:  Sofft, Ashley's Closet

Super cute! Long time follower, but first time commenting. Love this dress--looks like you're ready for spring, even with the snow in the background...

Kohls is usually my go-to spot, but I do need to start branching out more. My issue is that I'm still in between the juniors/misses in sizes. And this booty is not scrunching into juniors jeans!

I'm digging the white oxford under the dress though. Much better than a sweater. I need to find a white one too!

i tend to like both equally for selection, but i prefer jcp. mostly because i get annoyed with kohl's sales tactics. the whole jack up the price and keep everything in the store 40% off crap. sorry, but that's not a deal. i really only buy something there if i really want it because that makes me angry. another example would be i bought a nice big clock at tjmaxx for $19.99. kohl's had the same brand and size clock priced at $74.99. so when you look at the sale price, you think you are getting a good deal when actually you aren't. boo on that.

i like that jcp frequently sends out coupons and you don't have to deal with kohl's cash. i would rather have the deal when i first shop, not later.

I rarely shop at either but the clothes in the Penney's ads lately have been adorable and I've been meaning to go there!

I never shop at kohls anymore and rarely shop of JcPenneys but I do love me some clearance racks at JcPenney. I've recently purchased two fab (in my eyes) dresses for 9.99! I love that dress, although I don't see cupcake I will call it cupcaketastic.

Gorgeous dress!! I don't shop either one very often, but definitely prefer JCP over Kohl's now, especially since there is a nice new stand alone (vs. in a mall) one not far from my house. I think they have a better selection than Kohl's.

Super cute dress you look ready for spring with the pop of hot pink. I love those tights!! :)

I love both stores, but prefer Kohl's for my clothing.

I always forget about Penny's. I will have to check it out.

Haven't shopped at Penny's in years and just recently went to Kohls for the first time in about 6 years.
Your dress is adorable. Can't believe it has been hiding in the closet all this time

That dress is absolutely adorable! I love the color blocking and the cute shape!

I have found great pieces and great deals at both stores! I think for clothing and shoes I'm a little partial to Kohl's. For bags I've always liked JCPenney!

JC Penney's is so inconveniently far from my regular route that I've really never bought anything from there. (Except this one time where I had to buy a half slip at their Southdale store because my skirt kept riding up!)

I like Kohl's... but I see a lot of bloggers go to Penney's and I'm thinking perhaps I should make my way over even for the extra mile. Pretty dress!

I love that dress, I'd say it definitely looks like something you got from a boutique, not Penneys! I haven't shopped at either store in a while (I can't seem to stray from Target...) but I feel like Penney's is better quality. But Kohl's is where it's at for inexpensive jewelry!

I just recently went into Kohls...never had one near enough to really shop there. I have always shopped at JCP. They have great sales and they really do have nice dresses. I don't find many bottoms there. Juniors are not quite right and misses are not either. That dress is so cute on you! I love it. The white shirt is great with it.

I am the opposite, I grew up shopping Penny's but now lean towards Kohl's partly for convenience since it is closer but, they both have nice stuff!

Same goes for me. I was always a Kohl's person growing up and didn't really like Penny's. Now that my friend started working there I started going there and really like it.
