Life and Loss

Oh boy.  So much has happened in the past few days and weeks.  Steve and I moved into our new house. We LOVE it.  It feels more and more like "home" every day.  I misplaced the USB cords in the move, so though I do have some pictures to share, they will have to wait.  This post, unfortunately, could not wait.

Horrible news.  We had to say goodbye to our sweet Miles on Wednesday morning.  His health took a bad turn and we ran out of treatment options and funds.  I cannot recall a more devastating event in my life.  Being that he was only 1 1/2 years old, we continued to hold out hope for his eventual recovery and remission from IMPA (Immune Mediated Poly-Arthritis).  To recount all that his little body had been through to this point would take forever.  His life was short, but so full of love and purpose.  The pain of his loss is so fresh, it's hard to imagine ever getting over it, though I know we will with time.

We leave for a 2 week Disney vacation on the 15th.  We're looking forward to some advanced healing and rest only The Happiest Place on Earth could provide as well as a fresh start to our unplanned future without Miles.

I can't have my baby Pug back.  So the next best thing is getting another one, right?  Hold me back, Stevie, hold me back.

I'm so so so sorry, Jill. There's nothing as heartbreaking as losing a pet. It just sucks. I'll be thinking of you and your husband and hope you can find peace and happiness soon. And maybe another puppy :)

Awh, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have a pet so I don't really know how you're feeling. But I hope that you feel better! Have fun on your Disney trip. :D

Jill, I'm so sorry about Miles -- but he was the best-loved pug ever. It sounds like this vacation is much needed and definitely much deserved... Try to have a bit of fun if you can!

Oh Jill, I'm so sorry. I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet. You never really get over it, but the pain does ease up over time. I never got to meet Miles, but he was an adorable presence on your blog, clearly chock-full of personality. He will be missed!

Enjoy your trip, lady. You deserve it.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Jill! Losing a pet really is like losing a (tiny, furry) member of your family. My heart goes out to you and Steve.

Much love to you guys,
Emma

Oh Jill, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Sweet Miles will be missed. I hope your trip is happy, and while a new furbaby can never replace Miles, it will bring joy into your household. :) Best wishes!

Oh, I'm so sorry. Pets are so wonderful, but when they go it's so difficult. Take care. And enjoy Disney!

I've been looking at all his pictures and already knew this, but still have to say it: He was perfection in every way.
Love you both so much.

Jill, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know, all too well, how painful it is to lose a pet to something so tragic. I was in your boat just a few months ago, and I still miss Scruffy every day. I hope all of the positive love and memories and you have of him will help you heal much sooner.

I sobbed for hours when our first cat, Pumpkin, died of heart failure. It's sooo difficult to lose someone you love, especially a pet. I hope the cruise helps you guys move forward a little, and I wish you lots of luck and love in the new house. xoxo -Kate

I have read your blog for a while now. We also live in MN. We includes my husband, a new baby, and two pups. We have a puggle and a springer with a rare auto immune disease, so I understood all of the issues you had with Miles. I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine losing either one of our pups.
